LCB Communities: An Overview

June 16, 2016

At LCB we feel fortunate to serve a vibrant community of seniors seeking comfortable and caring environments in which to live and thrive. People new to the world of senior living often ask us what it is we do and what defines our particular approach. This week on the blog, we thought it might be helpful to give an overview of our communities, the populations they serve, and the goals and philosophy that drives our mission.

Since 1994, the LCB team has built and/or assumed management of more than three dozen senior living locations across New England and down the eastern seaboard.  Most recently, as LCB, the team currently has 17 active communities spread among Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Our residences fall into two general categories – 1) Independent and Assisted Living with a Memory Care component, and 2) Memory Care Assisted Living residences specializing in Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Our first model serves residents ranging from independently functioning seniors looking primarily for community, ease of living, and the surety of help nearby should they need it, to those cognitively able to live independently but seeking the added benefits of assisted living (like help dressing, bathing, remembering medications, etc.), to those with mild to moderate cognitive issues needing a dedicated memory care component. Our Reflections Memory Care neighborhoods exist separately within these communities, with their own unique programming, and lots of healthy interaction with their neighbors outside of Reflections. Here is a full list of those communities, grouped by state:

MASSACHUSETTS

Our dedicated Memory Care Assisted Living communities serve seniors with more advanced cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. These residences offer programming and cultural elements based on our Four Pillars of Engagement philosophy, implemented in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Four Pillars is a non-pharmacological approach focusing on the entire person – mind, body and spirit – and is designed to engage and stimulate through experiences and events, not activities.  You can read more about this approach on our website.

We currently manage two dedicated Memory Care Assisted Living locations in MA:  Windrose at Weymouth, located at 670 Main Street, and Windrose at Woburn, which is located at 857 Main Street. In Rhode Island, we own and operate The Lighthouse at Lincoln a 62-apartment residence located at 425 Albion Road.  All of these communities offer a broad program of activities and exercise to promote brain health, as well as physical, occupational and speech therapies.  Residents also receive full daily meal service and individual menu planning, community education, and culture and support groups.

In New Hampshire, LCB offers The Arbors of Bedford, which is a 50-apartment, 83-bed specialized assisted living community located at 70 Hawthorne Drive. Residents at the Arbors receive 24-hour nursing care and supervision, along with a broad program of activities and exercise to promote brain health, and physical, occupational and speech therapies.  Like traditional assisted living residences, residents also receive full daily meal service and individual menu planning, community education, culture and support groups, a calendar full of activities and recreational program, and a variety of other services.
