You’ve probably heard the old saying, “You’ve got to walk the walk, not talk the talk.” At LCB Senior Living, it’s more than just a cliched phrase – it’s a way of life. And during September and October, on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association, we take it to the streets… literally!
What is the Walk?
This fall, every single one of our LCB communities – across seven states – is taking part in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s campaign. The 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is actually a series of walking events held in more than 600 communities across the nation. It is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, research, and familial support. By forming a walking and fundraising team, each of the LCB Senior Living communities joins one of the scheduled walks in their area and shows up to show the world how dedicated they are to finding an end to Alzheimer’s disease.
Each of the LCB Teams consists of that community’s associates, friends, and family members of both current and past LCB residents. It’s a beautiful bonding experience for all of those who have loved people with Alzheimer’s and those who care for them. It’s a chance for past and present families to connect, share their stories and resources, and offer each other support.

Why Do We Walk?
LCB Senior Living serves families and individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease every day. We see the impacts of this devastating affliction and feel a tremendous passion for helping to find a cure and help with its prevention. Our Vice President of Memory Care, Amber Evans, is an activist in the fight, representing LCB as Vice Chair of Education and Outreach for the National Institute of Dementia Education’s Standard of Excellence Council, while serving on the board for the Alzheimer’s Association’s NH/MA Chapter.
For Amber and the LCB team, so much of their work in Memory Care is grounded in making sure that associates and families receive the education and support they need throughout the journey. No one goes through this journey alone, and LCB is passionate about breaking the stigma around Alzheimer’s by raising awareness and creating strong, bonded communities that celebrate the wins, no matter how small.
Fundraising Fun
Since each LCB community has their own fundraising page, each community team captain has been working hard to host special events to garner support and help reach their goals. From bake sales to art auctions to car washes to yes – even a dunk tank – every community has created space to support this hopeful and inspiring effort.

After being recognized as a Alzheimer’s Association Corporate Champion of the Year in 2022, we have upped the ante, making this year’s fundraising goal even bigger than ever. As of this post–and thanks to the tremendous generosity of our team and supporters– we are more than halfway to our $100,000 goal!
For ten years LCB has been involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and each year our participation and impact grows bigger and farther-reaching. We’re so proud to be present in this space, putting in the grit and work to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s. We’re lacing up our sneakers – and we hope to see you out on the course!
