How Does Personal Care Differ From Assisted Living?
In Pennsylvania, “Personal Care” is the term used for communities that would be considered “Assisted Living” throughout much of the country. Personal Care communities offer private apartments, meals and help with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, medication management and more. In addition, many communities like ours offer sophisticated memory care services to help residents with many forms of dementia.
Assisted Living communities in Pennsylvania offer more-medical, skilled nursing services often associated with nursing homes in addition to some of the things listed above.

When deciding on a senior living option, there are many things that contribute to the value you receive for your monthly rent. Great place! Recently my mother had a respite stay. Everyone from management to med staff to socialization staff, to restaurant staff to facilities and other employees - all personable, friendly, kind and caring toward the residents. By her 3rd day everyone called her by her name -very special. Fantastic food! Clean! Fun events and activities to keep the residents as independent as possible for as long as possible. We will be back & it would be my pick for permanent residence. Go visit. You will want to stay!

My mom moved into The Residence at Chadd's Ford. We chose it for the quality of the care, and the size of it, it was a smaller one. My mom has mobility issues, so we like the size of it. The location of her apartment is very convenient. The people were awesome. They impressed us. They're very friendly and empathetic, they're just very upbeat, great. They genuinely care about their residents. The meals are excellent. We had her 80th birthday a few days after she was in, and we had eight people there, and they did an awesome job. The food was great. They have everything from the PT and OT there. Doctors are coming in so she doesn't have to go anywhere for her primary care doctor or dermatologist. There's a movie theater. They had entertainment coming in, so it's great.
The Residence at Chadds Ford is a lovely assisted living facility. We visited a temporary resident today and were pleasantly surprised at how roomy and nice her studio apartment is. We had a delicious gourmet lunch and we were especially impressed with our server Princess. She is a very friendly, attentive, and efficient server who made our dining experience exemplary. It’s nice to know our friend is recuperating in such a warm and caring
environment. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work.
From our first visit through the application process to getting my dad settled in, everything at The Residence has been outstanding. A special thanks to Mindy who went above and beyond during the transition. He has been there almost two weeks and is settling in very well - he comments often on the quality of the staff, the facilities and the food. 5 stars!

I would definitely recommend the property I've done it multiple times already. I think the community should have better communication in the initial interview when there is care or medication's to be delivered.
We got great value for our money, have been very pleased. Everyone was nice to my loved one, and made them feel comfortable.
They overstate there capabilities. We had issues with oxygen services, so we moved both parents out. The staff was fine but they had a fair amount of turnovers with leadership. Overall, the size of the apartments/rooms were very nice.
My mother who has advanced Alzheimer's disease has been a resident in Reflections Memory Care for 19 months. Like all personal care homes, there were ups and downs resulting from covid with staffing, etc. and administrative turn around. The care staff are THE BEST! My mother loves them. Her reaction to them is always with affection. Having this wonderful, caring, well trained staff would not be possible without the direction of Ingrid Bell, Reflections Director and the excellent nursing supervisors Brittney and Matt. Patti Gray was original ED, left during covid to return to nursing, has thankfully returned and brought hope for change where needed. I am hopeful and most grateful for Patti and Ingrid's return.
I want to thank Ingrid Bell and Patti Gray for righting a ship that was in rough waters. They have made significant, positive changes that will greatly enhance the lives of the residents. The care givers are also exceptional and take loving care of my wife. They treat her like family. Ciera, Quianna, Leeomi, Shelly, and many more truly care about my wife. They, along with Ingrid and Patti, also care about me and my well-being and take extra steps to make sure that I am OK.

I visited The Residence of Chadds Ford the other day for a tour. I was overwhelmed with joy to see how happy the residents and staff were. On top of being a beautiful facility, The energy there is amazing, That’s what I loved the most!!
I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My mother is at The Residence at Chadd's Ford. We chose it because it's small and convenient, but there were a lot of complications with moving in. They weren't very informative or helpful. Unfortunately, we moved her in around Christmas and there were significant staff shortages at that time, so it was a very difficult move-in. She has since then adjusted, but the first two months were horrendous. They need to have more aides on staff and a smaller ratio of staff to patients. The staff is very nice. My mother loves their food. Due to COVID, some activities were curtailed. They have a salon and a little activity space, but there's no gym. I'm not getting what I'm paying for. It's basically convenient.
This is a great community for your or your loved one. It is secure and they have great cooks at this community. They have activities like sing a longs, happy hour, movies, and more for the residents to do to stay busy in the community.
This was a nice community. This community was on a main road and it seemed to look more like a hotel. I wanted my loved one to be in another area and that is why we did not go with this community
We chose Residence at Chadds Ford because it was clean, staff was friendly, and we just felt it would be a great fit. When you walk out, you do not feel depressed. It is a more of an upbeat atmosphere compared to other facilities that we looked into. I would definitely recommend them to other families looking.
Our family had an virtual tour and the reason we did not choose this community was the price, it was a little to expensive.
So so grateful to Casey, Dana and Jimmy who helped my mom when she fell last month…they cleaned her up checked her thoroughly and cleaned her room and were so so kind and loving with her…very nice staff including the new Director Kim A … receptionists are all kind and helpful and I cannot say enough about the dining staff, they are always kind and sweet to everyone…

I want to thank Cindy and Mindy at Residence. I was at this beautiful facility taking a tour with my 80yr old friend. Due to a delay with our Uber the ladies still accommodated us even though they had to stay late past their shift. If your looking for a new place to call home I highly recommend checking out Residence.
Right now like most other communities The Residence at Chadds Ford is understaffed, but right away they gave off an amazing first impression. Our whole family on the tour wanted to move in immediately and with our experience so far we would recommend this community to others.
Our family had an in person tour and The Residence is a very lovely community, but it was a little to high in price then what our loved one was comfortable with. However, for us this would be a place to come live. They were all very accommodating and let us talk to the residents and ask them questions.
I had a recent tour from Cindy (Business Development Director). First: the community is beautiful and well designed taking into consideration the senior population. Second: Cindy was a joy to talk to and clearly is passionate about what she does and her approach.
Was just on a tour of this facility and can honestly say that it is beautiful. Staff is accommodating and knows each and every one of their residents by name. They are one big happy family!
I have been a guest at The Residence at Chadds Ford on several occasions. Each time I visit the residents are pleasant, engaging and seem to be very happy living there.
The food is amazing and the decor of the building is lovely with out being ostentatious. I highly recommend The Residence at Chadds Ford for anyone that needs a care setting that offers independence and autonomy with a strong safety net if and when it is needed.

The place looks great as it's fairly new. The downside is they aren't able to hold onto staff resulting in inconsistent care. This needs to be addressed before I would be willing to rate it higher.
I visited this facility
We went to The Residence at Chadds Ford. It's a new building, and it has the same sort of feel to it as the other place in that it's very up to date and very pleasant looking. I don't think it has quite the same warmth with the staff, though, and that was my reason for choosing the other place, but I wouldn't have any hesitation of having my mom there. The staff just lacked the personal warmth. It's a very nice facility, and it's closer to my house, so it was a good location.
The Residence at Chadds Ford is a beautiful community and they make their residents feel special. So much attention and research went into planning their Reflections Memory Care Program which impressed me! Their chef prepares delicious meals. You couldn’t ask for a sweeter person than Cindy Graul to represent the community. Be sure to ask about the various colors throughout the community and why they were chosen. BAYADA offers top-notch therapy right in the community. The culture and climate of the community is warm and inviting!
I visited this facility
The Residence at Chadd's Ford was lovely. I had a very thorough tour of the three different apartments in the whole building that we were allowed to tour. The chef sent me home with a pie, and it was delicious, boxed and hot right out of the oven. It's wonderful. The place was beautiful. The rooms were small, but beautifully done and beautifully decorated. It had a very cute closet, and the coat closet and pantry were shared. It would be a very huge transition for most people, from one independent living to another, unless you needed some physical care. It would be a consideration for me for a stopover. If I needed to go someplace, it would be a good choice, but for long time stay, it's not enough for my husband.
The staff who gave me the tour was wonderful. It's the first of my looking, so I have to take the size as a consideration, that maybe this is just standard. It would be something to really get your head around on how much downsizing we're talking about. Some of these places are only as big as my bedroom. Their villa room was beautiful. Two of these rooms had a beautiful scenery, the rest of them, you look down on a major road. There were some cons, and that major road was definitely one of them, because that's not what I would wanna look at.
They were all doing some kind of a book club when we walked by, but because of COVID, we really didn't go near any of the people. There wasn't anyone in the gym, but the place was only 40% capacity since the place is new. There was not a lot of activity going on, but I saw the activities up on the board. They had yoga and different things. They didn't have any amenities, like a pool, but they had lots of game rooms and social gathering areas. It's a beautiful place, but I don't know if I could live in something that small, even though it had all the other big rooms to visit and amenities.
My mother, who suffers from severe dementia, moved in to the Residence at Chadds Ford from another area Assisted Living Facility. I cannot say enough about the excellent quality of care she has been receiving since her arrival there. The staff treats her like a family member, and puts tremendous love and effort into caring for her. While she had been losing weight at an alarming rate at her previous facility, here she has actually been GAINING much needed weight due to the efforts of everyone there, from the exceptional Executive Director, to the phenomenal, kind, loving and incredibly competent Director of Memory Care, to the innovative Dietary Department, to the entire wonderful nursing staff who have been willing to spend two or more hours with her at meals if necessary, to encourage her to eat. She is always clean and well cared for, closely supervised and encouraged, and she is clearly thriving. The staff communicates with me often, keeping me up to date frequently on everything that is happening with her. They have been amazing in their care, patience, genuine concern and great compassion for her, and I highly recommend this facility.
I would definitely recommend this community. It is brand new and extremely clean. The community has everything my mom needs. The staff is very friendly, kind, and attentive. The communication is great and they have built a relationship with us.
The Residence at Chadds Ford believes in caring for medical needs as well as personal and emotional needs as we age. I knew that they would be a wonderful fit for my mom. Unfortunately, as my mom was about to transition to living at TRCF, she faced many medical hurdles coupled with a global pandemic. She was in and out of hospitals and skilled nursing care. During all of this, Patti Gray at TRCF was her advocate. When she was finally able to move in, it was like she was coming home. The caregivers at TRCF understand that people need mental and social support just as much as they need physical or medical support. Their focus on personal well being is an essential part of the care they provide and has a tremendous impact on the livelihood of their residents. I can’t say enough good things about the staff and community at The Residence at Chadds Ford. I feel fortunate that my mom is able to live there.
Amazing building with superb amenities. Unfortunately they took so long to conduct the placement assessment that we were unable to compare final offers. They don’t seem organized yet.
